Pine County's Kelly Gribauval-Hite has been appointed to the Minnesota Clean Water Council.

Gribauval-Hite is the chief executive officer of Mercury Technologies of Minnesota, Inc., a leading universal/hazardous waste management and consulting firm with a strict no-landfill policy.

Gribauval-Hite joins the council as a business representative appointed by Governor Tim Walz. She brings over 20 years of experience in corporate sustainability and regulatory compliance.

"I am honored to be a part of the Clean Water Council and actively participate in the preservation of the state of Minnesota's water resources," she says.

Gribauval-Hite was one of four new members appointed to the council, three appointed by Walz and one by the Senate Republican Caucus. The other members were Minnesota Senator Carrie Ruud, Richard Brainerd of the Mahtomedi City Council and Jen Kader of Freshwater, an environmental organization.

The new members, representing state and local government and the business and nonprofit sectors, will join the council in advising the governor and Legislature on the administration and implementation of the Clean Water Legacy Act. This includes recommending how to spend Clean Water Fund monies from tax revenues authorized by the Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment, approved by Minnesota voters in 2008.

Each new member will serve a one-year term that concludes in January 2021, with the exception of Kader, who will sit on the council through 2023. The Clean Water Council comprises 17 voting members appointed by the governor and 11 non-voting members appointed by the Legislature, University of Minnesota, and six state agencies.
