Moose Run team achieves goal

Just over a week ago, the Moose Run organizers started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $1,600 to buy banners and window cling that state “Heroes Work Here!” to be hung in various places in and around Moose Lake. They are happy to report that the goal has been met! $935 was raised on the GoFundMe site and an additional $590 was mailed in by check. The window cling and banners are expected to be hung as soon as they arrive, which should be within a few days.

According to Byron Kuster, the Moose Run Race Director, “The community responded very generously to our request for funding! Donations ranged in size from $5 to $300. People wanted to help and appreciated the opportunity to recognize as heroes the many front line workers that provide essential services in our area and who do so at significant personal risk.” Kuster also stated, “The hard part is that it's impossible to acknowledge every person or organization that is providing essential services during this pandemic. Unfortunately, some get overlooked.”

The Moose Run coordinated with the Moose Lake PTA to provide banners for the Moose Lake School. By combining orders, they were able to get a better price. The staff at the school provide supervision and activities to the children of front line workers.

After paying all expenses, any excess funds will be donated to the Moose Lake Area Food Shelf or the United Way of Carlton County.
