Billie Jo Steen's Superintendent contract for the 2020-2021 school year was approved at the regular Moose Lake school board meeting held remotely on April 20. Steen will take a special leave of absence for the year from her position as Secondary Principal as she assumes the new role.

"I think you guys made a good choice there," said Superintendent Indihar, who will be leaving at the end of the school year. He has taken a position as the next executive director to lead the Minnesota Rural Education Association (MREA), beginning this summer.

The board approved creating a Barnum-Moose Lake-Willow River School Board Cooperative Committee, as the members of this committee will meet with other board members from the schools and look into ways the schools can cooperate.

Elementary teacher Paul Olson is retiring, and the board thanked him for his over thirty years of service to the district. The board also thanked Brenda Valine, a Para, for her service to the district as she will be resigning effective May 28, 2020.

Moose Lake Township donated $5,000 to the Summer Rec program. Lee and Joe Mogen donated $500 to the school lunch program. The Math Counts Foundation donated $120 to offset Math Counts expenses.

The 2020-2021 membership enrollment renewal agreement with Northern Lights Special Education Cooperative was approved.

The board's regular meeting will be held via teleconference again on May 11 at 5 p.m.
