Moose Run team raises funds to recognize essential workers

April 23, 2020

The 2020 Moose Run, which had been scheduled for May 2, was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organizers of the Moose Run, no longer busy planning this year’s event, have decided to channel their energies in a new direction to meet a new community need. They would like to publicly thank the many workers in this area who provide essential services to the rest of us and who do so at significant personal risk of COVID-19 infection. Specifically, they would like to thank the workers at Moose Lake’s Mercy Hospital, the Gateway Family Health Clinic, the Thrifty White Pharmacy, the Augustana long-term care facility, the Market Place Foods grocery store, the Post Office, the Police and Fire Departments, and elsewhere pending approval.

The goal is to raise $1,600 by May 2 (the date the Moose Run would have occurred) to purchase large banners (or window signage) with the message “Heroes Work Here!”. These will be hung near the various facilities to let the workers there know that they are seen as true heroes!

Donations can be made in two ways: by donating with a credit (or debit) card at our GoFundMe account; or by mailing a check made out to the Moose Run c/o Becky Lief-Kuster, 4761 Coffee Lake Road, Moose Lake, MN 55767.

If the entire amount is not raised, banners will be purchase as funds allow. If excess funds are raised, they will be split between the Moose Lake Area Food Shelf and the United Way of Carlton County.

Many people have struggled to find a way to help out in these difficult times. Now anyone can help out. People are encouraged to partner with Moose Run in recognizing the workers who provide essential services and who do so despite the risks. Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated!
