Annie Adamczak-Glavan

Annie Adamczak-Glavan is one of the fifteen people named as inductees to the Minnesota High School Basketball Hall of Fame. It is the third class of inductees, which started in 2018. A formal ceremony is set for April 5.

Adamczak was named 1982 Miss Basketball as a senior at Moose Lake High School. The Lakers basketball, volleyball and softball teams were undefeated winning state championships in 1981-82. Moose Lake played in ten state tournaments from 1978-82, winning five state titles in volleyball, basketball and softball. In her senior year, those three sports produced a combined record of 79-0 with Adamczak as the driving force.

Bob and Bena Adamczak had twelve children and Annie is number nine. Annie grew up competing with eight brothers in sports and eveyday life. The Moose Lake High School, their sports' programs, community members, teammates, coaches (Kathy Fredrickson-volleyball, Bob Youso-basketball, and Kris Lyons-softball), and parents were all contributors to their success.

After high school, Adamczak received a full scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Nebraska, where she was named an NCAA Division 1 All-American in 1985. She is in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Hall of Fame and a member of Minnesota Athletic Directors Distinguished Alumni Association.

Adamczak has been coaching volleyball for 25 years. She was head varsity coach at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault, St. Louis Park, Edina and currently club volleyball at Club 43. She is married to Mike Glavan, a project manager for Delta. They live in Edina and have three children, Elizabeth and twins, Kate and Matthew.

After Moose Lake High School, Adamczak played volleyball at the University of Nebraska, TSV Rudow in Germany and the Minnesota Monarchs. Some of the other honors she has received are: DECC Athletic Hall of Fame, Minnesota Softball Hall of Fame, twice All-Conference Player and Academic Wyoming Invite MVP, Big 8 Conference MVP, NCAA D1 Region All-Tournament Team, Big 8 Female Player of the Year and 2016 JVA Top 20 Club Coach of the Year.

Annie stated, "I am so honored to be placed in the Minnesota Basketball Hall of Fame. There are so many, many great players and coaches in Minnesota, it's hard to believe I belong among them. I was truly blessed with great teammates and coaches and without them we would not have had the success we did in the 80's. My high school years are so memorable and I am so proud to represent the Lakers in the Hall."

Congratulations from your community.
