Tax filing deadline, both for state and federal taxes in Minnesota, has been extended to July 15, 2020.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has established a Small Business Emergency Loan program for small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

All non-hospital entities are ordered to conduct an inventory of their personal protective equipment (PPE), ventilators, respirators, and anesthesia machines, report the result to the state, and either donate such equipment to a local coordinating entity or preserve it.

Eviction proceedings are suspended during the COVID-19 peacetime emergency.

The courts will remain open on a limited basis for in-person contact, and continue to accept filings in all case types; remote hearings will be held for a majority of cases. The order went into effect on March 23, and is in effect for the next 30 days or until another order is issued, whichever comes first.

All public schools are closed March 18-27. It is possible distance learning may be implemented starting March 30.

The public is temporarily prohibited from occupying the following establishments:

Restaurants, food courts, cafes, coffeehouses, and other places offering food or beverages for on-premises consumption (excluding institutional cafeterias that serve residents and employees, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and child care facilities). They may still use delivery, walk-up, and drive-through services.

Bars, taverns, brew pubs, breweries, microbreweries, distilleries, wineries, tasting rooms, clubs, and other places of public accommodation offering alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption.

Hookah bars, cigar bars, and vaping lounges offering their products for on-premises consumption.

Theaters, cinemas, indoor and outdoor performance venues, and museums.

Gymnasiums, fitness centers, recreation centers, indoor sports facilities, indoor exercise facilities, exercise studios, and tanning establishments, body art establishments, tattoo parlors, piercing parlors, businesses offering massage therapy or similar body work, spas, salons, nail salons, cosmetology salons, esthetician salons, advanced practice esthetician salons, eyelash salons, and barber shops. This includes, but is not limited to, all salons and shops licensed by the Minnesota Board of Cosmetologist Examiners and the Minnesota Board of Barber Examiners.

Amusement parks, arcades, bingo halls, bowling alleys, indoor climbing facilities, skating rinks, trampoline parks, and other similar recreational or entertainment facilities.

Country clubs, golf clubs, boating or yacht clubs, sports or athletic clubs, and dining clubs.


City Hall is closed to the public but you can still contact staff via phone or email.

The DMV office is closed until further notice.

Augustana Care Moose Lake: Visitors are not allowed into their facilities at this time.

Mercy Hospital: Mercy's Courtyard Cafe is closed to the public; number of visitors is limited; all non-essential community meetings have been canceled; elective surgeries, physical therapy, and elective procedures have been canceled.

Mercy Wellness Center is closed until further notice.

Moose Lake Fire Department has updated their response guideline to permit only 2 responders into a residence on a call, or handle what they can over the phone. Otherwise, running as normal.

Moose Lake Municipal Liquor Store is closed to patrons until March 27, but will still have off-sale available for purcahse from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Moose Lake Police Department will remain fully staffed with no change in hours. However, the department building will be closed to the public past the drop-off point.

Moose Lake Public Library and Community Center is closed until further notice.

Recycling shed is closed until further notice.

Senior Dining: All in-house dining is canceled until further notice. Home delivery is still available.


Moose Lake Community School

MEALS: Free curbside and delivery of breakfast and lunch are available for children age 18 and under. You must sign up to receive a meal. TO SIGN UP: Contact Shari Anderson at 485-4435 x1109.

Barnum Public Schools
