Scholarship for Carlton County residents

February 20, 2020

The Floy Gilman Scheidler Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships to residents of Carlton County who are pursuing a post high school education. The Foundation was established in 1999 by Floy Dickison, former Esko High School English teacher and her sister, Ona Scheidler, a former Cloquet High School Business teacher.

Applicants must be residents of Carlton County and must have maintained a 3.0 GPA and been in the top 50 percent of their graduating class. Residents who are currently enrolled in a college or university or earned a GED or are home schooled are also eligible to apply. In addition to school achievement, applicants should show participation in extra-curricular activities, community volunteer work and/or employment. Financial need is a consideration.

The $1,500 scholarships per semester will be awarded in May 2020 and are renewable for seven more semesters for a total of $12,000. Application forms are available from the counselor’s offices at Carlton County high schools and at post-secondary schools in our area. Completed applications are due by April 1, 2020.
