Lady Rebels Hockey lose in overtime

The Lady Rebels hosted Hibbing-Chisholm on Friday, December 13.

Hibbing would attack first as they would win the puck right away. They pounded on Jo Wekseth as they put up 19 shots on goal with Wekseth fending off 17, allowing 2 goals for Hibbing.

Hibbing scored first at 12:13 with Emma Lundell finding the net with the assist coming from Dorothy Kearney, but a mere 10 seconds later the Rebels' Gabby Gamst would answer back as she would find the net with the assists coming from Jamie Benzie and Raechel Painovich to tie the game up. Jamie Benzie with the assist coming from Gabby Gamst would put the Rebels ahead at the 9:32 mark on the clock. Less than a minute later Hibbing's Allie Bussey would find a way to score around Wekseth with the assist coming from Darian Carlson at 8:48.

The Rebels took a 3-2 lead going into the second period as at the 40-second mark Jamie Benzie with the assist from Gabby Gamst would again find the hole in Hibbing's defense. The second period would be a back and forth puck control battle as both teams would move the puck but not score until late in the period. Hibbing would win the puck battle as they would finally score at the 3:53 mark of the second period as Darian Carlson with the assist coming from Allie Bussey would find room to score. Savannah Gamst would give Hibbing their first power play as she would go to the penalty box because of a body check call. Hibbing's Julia Gheradi would take advantage of the power play as she would score with the assist coming from Allie Bussey at 2:43.

Hibbing took the lead going into the third period. The Rebels would come out in the third strong and fast as at the 15:37 mark Sandra Ribich would pound the puck between the pipes with the assist coming from Grace Hartl. The Rebels would regain the lead at the 10:17 mark as Savannah Gamst would find the goal with the assists coming from Jamie Benzie and Hallie Klavu. Hibbing would again tie the game at 5:22 with an unassisted power play goal coming from Allie Bussey. Hibbing would take the win at 4:44 in overtime as Elyssa Durie with assists from Allie Bussey and Darian Carlson would find room to slide the puck past Wekseth.

Wekseth would rack up another 39 saves while Hibbing's goalie would have 19 saves. Savannah Gamst would find herself in the penalty box for body checking while Jorja Jusczak would go to the box for tripping and hooking. Hibbing's Allie Bussey would spend time in the box for tripping while Dorothy Kearney would go in for hooking. The Rebels would fall 6-5 in overtime to Hibbing.
