Help wanted with Christmas lights

November 14, 2019

Help is needed to put up the Christmas lights in Willow River, it was said at the council meeting on Monday, Nov. 4.

It was asked that if people want to help put up the lights in town, they need to call the city office and leave their name and number. The lights are normally installed the weekend after Thanksgiving, it was said.

Diane Nelson, the city clerk, reported that the sliding window into the city office in the city hall has been ordered. It is expected to arrive in two weeks.

Security methods and equipment for the remainder of the building were discussed but no decision was made.

It was said that the DNR reported that there is nothing that can be done about the flooding by a resident’s home on Gander Drive, that it was just a natural occurrence.

A request to hook into the city’s water system was discussed once again. A line from the main line to the edge of the person’s property is 300 to 400 feet, it was said.

The request also included waiving a $750 fee. The city would waive the fee and pay for the materials to bring the line to the person’s property, it was said.
