Regina Garvey

A humble legacy has ended in our community. Regi Garvey has been teaching piano in Moose Lake for over 40 years. She has brought the magic of music to hundreds of children in the community. Her natural rapport with youth coupled with her skills as an accomplished pianist, and Bachelor's degree in Music from UMD, made for excellence in her craft. Students were not only instructed in piano and music theory, they were treated with patience and dignity. It has also been long studied and confirmed that music instruction leads to increases in cognitive growth. In other words, Mrs. Garvey was feeding their brains!

Regi Garvey has been bringing music to this area in a multitude of ways over the years and although she is retiring from teaching, she will continue to do so. She is the pianist and organist for Holy Angels Catholic Church and has played for countless weddings and funerals. She was the creator and director of the Realms of Glory Christmas Concerts, which had been praised by community members as a great way to ring in the holiday season. She accompanied on occasion for the MLHS Choir as well as the production of Brigadoon in Sandstone and a night of music at Scott House in Carlton. She is currently a board member for the newly created Agate Encores Community Concerts being performed in the MLHS auditorium. Any former students or parents of students should feel encouraged to reach out to Regi.
