Rebels lose in 3 to Proctor

October 17, 2019

Thursday, October 10, the MLWR volleyball team hosted the Proctor Rails. The night was not only honoring the seniors (DonnaMae Smith, Ellen Anderson, Maddie Prachar, Michael Olsonmanager, and Maddie Radzak - cheerleader) but also the survivors of and those that succumbed to breast cancer). The game was dubbed the “Volley for a Cure” and all proceeds raised from raffles drawings, free will donations and the purchasing of cookies benefitted the Side Out Foundation which raises awareness and funds for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer.

Unfortunately, the game didn’t go the Rebels’ way. Proctor’s dominance with their kills and ace serves gave the Rebels all they could handle. MLWR had a difficult time returning/digging out spikes that the Rails delivered. The Rebels did, however, have some good volleys in the match and made the games exciting for the fans.

In game 1, the Rebels lost the serve as they blocked a Proctor spike out of bounds. They were quickly down in the match and Proctor stretched out the lead. The Rails made multiple consecutive points through kills and ace serves and ended up winning the game 25-11.

The Rebels made game 2 a little more difficult for the Rails. They were able to mount a mini comeback through good volleys and service points. However, they were not able to surpass Proctor. The Rails ended up winning 25-16.

Game 3 was all Proctor taking the third set 25-9 and with it, the game.
