Rebels' Ellen Anderson winds up to spike against the Panthers.

On September 19, the Rebels hosted the South Ridge Panthers for three intense sets of volleyball.

The Rebels started the first set displaying much more cohesive teamwork than their previous match against the Mora Mustangs, and pulled ahead with a score of 6-2. However, the Panthers clawed their way back up on the scoreboard, tying it up at 9-9. Senior Maddy Prachar of the Rebels made a nice spike, keeping the game tied at 10-10. The Panthers continued their climb as the Rebels lost their grove. The Rebels called a timeout at 10-14. Back at it, the Rebels fought to stay in the game as the power went out of their serves. Eventually, the Panthers won the first set 20-25.

The second set stayed evenly matched as each team kept the score tied. The Rebels started to regain their fire, pulling ahead with the score 14-12. The Panthers retaliated and took the lead, forcing the Rebels to take a timeout at 18-21. The game really heated up as the Rebels managed to tie it up at 23-23 at which point the Panthers took a timeout. The Panthers managed to secure the last two points need to close the second set at 23-25.

In the third set, the Panthers took the lead off the bat 0-4. The Rebels wrangled a point but the Panthers continued to lead up to 1-9. The Rebels fought back, climbing to 6-12. After a pause in the game from a mistaken call by the referee, and the volleyball actually spinning along the top of the net for a few seconds, the game kicked back into full gear. The Rebels managed to surge in points, bringing the score to 22-24 at which point the Panthers called a timeout. With one more point, the Panthers took the third set 22-25.

For the Rebels, DonnaMae Smith had 16 set assists, 10 digs, and 3 ace serves, Maddy Prachar had 8 kills, and Skyla Thompson had 7 digs and 3 kills.
