Tigers pounce on Rebels

September 19, 2019

The Rebels hosted the Cherry Tigers on September 16, falling to the Tigers in shutout game 0-3.

While it was apparent the Tigers had some communication issues on the court, the ferocity of their spikes made up for their shortcomings. The Rebels took the lead but the Tigers were quick to tie it up at 7-7. Cherry’s number 3, Kaelynn Kudis, made such angled and powerful spikes that it was frightening. Cherry pulled ahead but the Rebels did their darndest to catch up. However, even after some true “hail mary” gameplay, the Tigers took the first set 19-25.

At the start of the second set, the Rebels drew first blood. The Tigers grew their lead even with the Rebels on their tails and won the set 18-25 with a hit right on the court line.

The third set was even matched at the start with the teams trading a point each up until the Tigers pulled away at 11-14. They kept up the pressure and went to take the set 16-25.

For the Rebels, Maddy Prachar closed out the game with 3 ace serves, 7 kills, and 4 digs; DonnaMae Smith with 22 set assists and 9 digs, and Ellen Anderson with 7 kills and 1 block.
