On June 6, twenty-three students and adults from Moose Lake HS made the long journey to Thailand for two weeks. We started in Bangkok with a boat tour where we were able to see the Reclining Buddha (it was massive!) and sunset from Golden Mountain. From Bangkok we traveled to Ayutthaya, an ancient city and capital of the Kingdom of Siam. It's now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We explored a floating market, walked along the banks of River Kwai and rode the Death Railway. We learned how silk and paper umbrellas were made in Chiang Mai and spent time in waterfalls at a national park. We learned how to bargain at local markets and ate our fair share of Thai food (including fried bugs, scorpions and frogs)! One of our favorite experiences was visiting rescued elephants at the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai. We ended our trip walking the beaches in Cha-am. We had the most amazing time learning and experiencing Thai culture and history that not even the extreme heat or humidity could stop us! It was truly fantastic.
