Chamber of Commerce welcomes new director

August 29, 2019

Allison Jones began her duties as the new executive director for the Moose Lake Area Chamber of Commerce on Monday, August 19.

Jones has been the program coordinator for the last five years at One Heartland, a non-profit summer camp near Willow River with the mission of helping to improve the lives of youth, children, and families facing significant health challenges or social isolation.

Her responsibilities for planning and implementing days of service for volunteers at the camp has given her the training in recruiting volunteers for chamber events.

Jones has also planned the Party with Heart fundraiser hosted each year at Moose Lake Brewing Company. She has recruited, hired, and trained summer staff to create lasting memories for the campers that attend One Heartland.

In her free time, Jones likes to hunt for agates, bike the Munger trail, and play pickleball, her new obsession. She also loves exploring the Minnesota State Parks and taking road trips around the country.

“I have really enjoyed meeting the people that have come in,” said Jones in a recent interview. “There have been visitors, local people, and chamber board members that have stopped in since I started a few days ago.”

Jones said that she left One Heartland because she wanted to develop her business, Body Basics, as a massage therapist in Askov. Her duties at the chamber will fit in nicely with her schedule for her business, she said. Jones also has a business degree.

“I will also be able to use my business degree to help people in working with the chamber,” she said. “I am really looking forward to building upon the program that the previous chamber executive director had created.”
