Barnum Schools prepare for upcoming year

The new superintendent, Mike McNulty, attended his first meeting of the Barnum School Board on Tuesday, July 16.

The board reorganized and set the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6:30 p.m. for the working and monthly board meetings. However, the working board meeting on Tuesday, August 6, was canceled. Superintendent McNulty will be attending the Minnesota Department of Education and Minnesota School Board Association seminars in the Twin Cities from August 5-7, it was said.

“The principals will also just have come back,” McNulty told the board members.

The board approved the 2019-20 participation and admission fees as recommended by the Activities Director. The fees will remain the same as they had been for the last school year but a $35 fee has been added for the Robotics Club, it was said. There had been no fee for the club in the past.

The salaries of the school board members were approved. The monthly salaries will remain the same as they were last year.

The board also approved two new law firms: Rudy, Gassert, Yetka, Pritchett & Helwig Law Firm of Cloquet and O’Meara, Leer, Wagner & Kohl Law Firm of Edina, education specialists.

The next meeting of the Barnum School Board was set for Tuesday, August 20, at 6:30 p.m.
