Home total loss in fire

The Moose Lake Fire Department was called out to a fire on Saturday at 3:09 p.m. at a home at 94213 Highway 61, south of Moose Lake, for a vehicle fire in an attached garage, reported Captain Steve Trenhaile of the MLFD.

Mutual aid fire departments from Willow River and Barnum were paged out as well, he reported. Mercy Ambulance was also called to the scene for possible firefighter care.

“Upon arrival, we found a fully engulfed fire in a garage attached to a home, with an extension into the home,” he reported. “The difficult fire was eventually brought under control but there was extensive damage to the home. There were no injuries but the home was a total loss. We were on scene for four hours before we cleared the fire scene. The occupants were able to find other living accommodations.

“We want to thank the Willow River and Barnum Fire Departments for their help as well as the two Pine County Sheriff’s deputies, who went over and beyond in helping us on the scene. The state fire marshal was contacted and advised. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.”
