Justin Church has been charged with felony Fourth Degree Assault for an incident that occurred on May 9 at the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) facility in Moose Lake. The maximum possible sentence for the charge is two years jail time and/or a $4,000 fine. Church appeared in court on May 10, and bail was set at $3,000 cash/$30,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 29.

According to the criminal complaint, Moose Lake officers reported to the MSOP facility after the assault occurred. Upon reviewing security video, they observed Church stand by a door and wait until a female security counselor entered the unit. Officers stated Church then approached her and punched her in the head at least six times.

The complaint goes on to state that the counselor received medical treatment and was diagnosed with a concussion as well as several cuts and scrapes to her head.

Church has five previous convictions on his record for Fourth Degree Assault from incidents going back to 2008.
