Barnum softball wins against Cromwell, 13-2

Bombers' Katelyn Buell sends the ball flying to get on base.

The Barnum Bombers softball team opened their season hosting the Cardinals of Cromwell but played in Willow River. The Cardinals went up to bat first with Elizabeth Risacher hitting a single to get on base. Risacher found her way around the diamond to score first. The Bombers' Katelyn Buell came up to bat first and went around the diamond to score first for the Bombers. Madison Warnygora, Mallory Agurkis, and Mendota Costonguay all went around the bases to give the Bombers 4-1 after the first inning.

In the second inning, the Cardinals failed to score. Izabell Carlson was the next Bomber to score as she would make the lap around the bases. In the third inning, the Bombers added to their lead over the Cardinals as Anna Wikstrom and Katelyn Buell scored, giving the Bombers a 7-1 lead.

The fourth inning would have the Bombers holding the Cardinals from scoring while the Bombers' Agurkis would make the trip around the diamond to add to the score. In the fifth inning, the Bombers had a good inning as they added 5 runs. Agurkis, Lacey O'Leary, and Jessica Stevens all make their way around the diamond. The Bombers' KayeLea Poirier made the trip around the bases twice for two fifth inning points.

The Cardinals would get one last chance to make a run for the game as Elizabeth Risacher made her way around the diamond for her second point of the game. The Cardinals fell to the Bombers 13-2 after 5 1/2 innings. The Cardinals' Elisabeth Kachinske struck out 4 Bombers but walked 5. The Bombers' Mendota Costonguay struck out 9 Cardinals.
