Successful Boys Youth BB Tourney in Willow River

Tourney champ 6th grade boys, front Brady Robbins, Eli Youngs, Chet Giersdorf-Thompson and back Dawson Kracke, Reese Bode, Elliott Wasche, Levi Mikrot, Charlie Rigleman.

Twenty-nine fourth through eighth grade boys came to play in The 1st Annual Rebels Basketball Classic recently. Grand Rapids won the 4th grade division with Southridge coming in second and Superior in third. The Rebel fourth graders competed hard and finished in fourth place. The fifth grade division was won by a strong Paynesville team who toppled Mora 41-19. The Rebels fifth graders played well and finished strong with a 25-15 victory over Aitkin in the third place game.

The Rebels sixth grade team came back from a 5-point deficit late in the first half and some shooting woes to beat Cloquet 48-37 in the championship game of an 8 team field that saw Proctor come in third, Cromwell fourth, Grand Rapids fifth. The Rebels beat Aitkin and Cromwell earlier in the day. Walker/Onigum came in 7th place. The 7/8th grade brackets was won by a long and good shooting Mora squad who beat the Rebels' 7th grade team 40-32 in the championship. Mora beat the Rebels' 8th grade squad in the semifinals, but the Rebel 8th graders walloped Duluth Denfeld 54-24 in the third place game. Two Harbors beat Bemidji in the 5th place game, and Park Center came in 7th.
