Local Artist and Organizations Receive Grants from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council

 


Local Carlton County artist and organizations were awarded a grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council on March 21, 2019.

Rural and Community Art Project Grant

Cloquet Middle School of Cloquet was awarded a $5,000 Rural and Community Art Project grant to support a program for 6th graders at Cloquet Middle School that will explore traditional and contemporary Ojibwe design with local artist, Sarah Agaton Howes. Students will develop digital floral designs to be integrated into collaborative, laser engraved birch bilingual signage for the school.

Arts Learning Grant

Oldenburg Arts and Cultural Community of Carlton was awarded a $5,000 Arts Learning grant to support the planning and presentation a series of educational workshops that explore the weaving of Native and African American musical traditions in the evolution of jazz to high school and post-secondary music educators and students in the region.

Artist Access Grant

Peter Knutson of Cloquet was awarded a $890 Artist Access grant to support the release a three song EP of live performances recorded at The Rex Bar in Duluth which will be published and distributed both online and with physical CDs.

The Arrowhead Regional Arts Council is a regional nonprofit that has been encouraging local arts development in northeastern Minnesota through arts funding and services for over 35 years.
