Lisa Beise's class won first place for the most minutes read for the second year in a row.

A February celebration of reading involved Willow River Elementary students in a Readathon that raised money for the Willow River Parent Teacher Organization to purchase all the school supplies for grades K-12 in the fall. Individual readers and classes were recognized for their reading minutes. Teacher Lisa Beise's homeroom cheered when they won the classroom with the most minutes read for the second year in a row. The month-long event was capped off with a Readathon Rally in early March to help celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday.
