Moose Lake 12UB Girls finish as State Champions with an undefeated 40-0 record

The Moose Lake Rebels entered the opening round of the 2018-19 state tournament against the Red Wing Wingers, who came into the contest with a 33-3 record. The game was close in the opening period, but the Lady Rebels gained a 2-goal lead going into the third period. In the third period the Lady Rebels put the game away with a final score of 8-2.

Scoring in the game for the Lady Rebels: Gracie Hartl 2 goals and 2 assists, Megan Hattenberger 2 goals, Sandra Ribich and Hallie Klavu each with a goal and an assist, Summer Wekseth 1 goal, Jorja Juzcak 1 assist and Mallory Hartl stopped 20 of 22 shots in goal.

In the Semi-Final game, the Lady Rebels faced the Wilmar Cardinals who came into the game with a 34-4-1 record. The game was a tight contest in the first period ending with Wilmar having the 2-1 lead. Mallory Hartl kept the game close with great play between the pipes. The Lady Rebels tied it up in the second period at 2-2 and added the 3rd goal in a last second rush to close out the period up 3-2. The Lady Rebels came out rolling in the third period to add 3 more goals to finish up 6-2.

Scoring for the Lady Rebels: Sandra Ribich 2 goals, Megan Hattenberger 2 goals, Madilyn Balut 2 assists, Gracie Hartl 3 assists, Hallie Klavu and Lily Kahara-Wallace each with a goal, Summer Wekseth 1 assist and Mallory Hartl stopped 22 of 24 shots.

In the Championship game, the Lady Rebels faced off against Mankato who came into the game with a 38-6-2 record. The Lady Rebels took the lead in the first period and never looked back with a final score of 7-0 to cap off an undefeated season with another shut out for goaltender.

Mallory Hartl stopped 18 shots in the contest for the shut out. Scoring in the game was led by Megan Hattenberg with 3 goals, Jorja Juzcak 1 goal and 2 assist, Hallie Klavu, Sandra Ribich and Gracie Hartl each with a goal and assist, and Lily Ludwig and Summer Wekseth each adding an assist.

The team would like to thank all of the 300 plus fans that came out to support the team in Proctor for this great State Tournament weekend. Special thanks to the Moose Lake Police, Fire and Rescue who gave the ladies and their families an escort out of town Sunday morning and a Champions' ride back into Moose Lake after the victory.
