The MLWR Rebels 6th grade boys won their third straight tournament January 12. It started with 47-19 win over Barron (WI) with Levi Mikrot, Eli Youngs and Reese Bode all scoring in double figures. The Rebel offense got in gear in the second game as they recorded a 60-17 victory. Eli Youngs had his second consecutive 5 assist game and Dawson Kracke used his speed to set up and finish several fast breaks. The championship against Proctor started close but the Rebels' tenacious defense helped them pull away in the second half, winning 57-30. Despite facing a taller and bigger center, Levi Mikrot stepped up with a Jordan Murphy type performance garnering a season high 19 rebounds and scoring 18 points. Eli Youngs and Elliott Wasche spearheaded the defensive effort with tough ball pressure frustrating the Rail guards all game. Youngs also came through offensively with 16 points. Reese Bode had a nice game shooting going 7-11 including 2 consecutive back breaking three's and finished with 16 points, 5 boards, and 4 steals.
