Three city council members were sworn in at the reorganizational meeting of the Moose Lake City Council on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

Mayor Ted Shaw, Councilor Doug Juntunen and new council member Walter Lower III recited their Oaths of Office.

Appointments were made.

All appointments will remain the same except for open positions, such as a library director, liquor store manager and cable TV public access coordinator.

There was discussion about an open position on the Moose Lake Water and Light Commission Board.

City Administrator Tim Peterson said that the employees had stated their wishes that former city councilor Mike Peterson be reappointed to the board, even if he is no longer on the council.

Peterson explained that city councilors are appointed to other boards and commissions for better communication from the council.

He recommended that a council member take that open position. Mayor Ted Shaw said that he would like to serve on the water and light commission. It was approved.

Shaw also said that he has been serving on the Moose Lake Area Fire Protection District Board. He stated that he would like to step down from that board and appoint Walter Lower III to take that position.

Lower agreed and was appointed.

Curt Yort was reappointed to fill out his third year on the water and light commission board.

Shaw has offered to be a director on the Moose Lake Chamber of Commerce board. The chamber members voted on the slate of directors at the annual meeting on Saturday, Jan 12.

Lower was appointed to be the council's representative to the chamber.
