Boys' hockey ties with Ely

The Moose Lake Area Rebels boys hockey team tied Ely 3-3 in a home game on Friday.

With the tie, the Rebels are now 1-5-1 on the season.

Danny Whited was in net for the Rebels, stopping 29 of 32 shots in the game. The Rebels outshot Ely 43-32, which including outscoring Ely 2-1 in the third period, which allowed them to pick up the tie.

After a scoreless first period, Ely put in two goals in the second, but Tommy Kliniski scored with just 33 seconds in the period to give the Rebels some momentum. Kliniski was assisted by Vern Anderson and Jack Ergen.

In the third period, Anderson then scored two minutes in to allow the Rebels to tie up the game. At the 6:13 mark, Ergen then scored, and was assisted by Kliniski. Ely scored with about five minutes left to tie the game.

For the year, Jordan Fjosne is leading the Rebels with 10 points in the seven games, followed by Anderson and Kliniski, who have seven points each. Adam Olson has four points, while Ergen has two points, both against Ely.

The Rebels faced Proctor at home this past Tuesday and will host Legacy Christian on Friday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m.

The Rebels will be playing in the North Shore Tournament Dec. 27-29. Their first game is against Park Rapids on Dec. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
