The Moose Lake-Willow River-Barnum (MLWRB) finished their season with some exciting team races at the Cross Country 7A Section Championship. Of the 21 teams present, only the top two teams and top eight individuals not on those teams qualify for the State Championship.

The Boys' Varsity raced first. Out of the 19 boys' teams, MLWRB boys placed sixth with 174 points. Maverick Koecher finished first for the team. He was 25th in 17:33.4. Following him was Lake Doran 31st in 17:58.9, Johnathan Danelski 34th in 18:02.7, Danny Whited 36th in 18:04.3, Tan Dipman 54th in 18:30.5, Spencer Lower 69th in 19:03.5 and Joseph Mikrot 79th in 19:15.0.

It was a fast race and the winner, Geno Uhrbom of GNK, would go on to win the Single-A State meet the following week.

The Girls' Varsity were up next. Before the race, Coach Adam Whelan told the girls' team to "put it all on the line." When the gun went off, the MLWRB girls' team did just that and surprised quite a few with their third place team finish, beating two teams that were ranked higher than they were in the state earlier in the season. Coriella Sheetz and Kelli Granquist, 16th and 19th in 20:57.5 and 21:01.1 respectively, led the MLWRB team finishing just a few places away from an individual state qualification. They were followed by teammates Lilly Petty 22nd in 21:14.6, Savannah Gamst 30th in 21:35.7, Sarah Michels 45th in 22:11.6, Lexi Tekippee 49th in 22:17.7 and Laya Danelski 56 in 22:44.0.
