An electric home opener

Bombers Ryan Weller reaches in and strips the ball from the Eagles.

The Barnum Bombers hosted the East Central Eagles for the Bombers home opener under a sky that became electric.

The Bombers took the ball and ran with it early on, jumping to an early lead. Tyler Nynas began the night with quarterback duties but soon stepped to the side so Blaze Hurst could step into that position. Nynas stayed on the field, however, moving into the running back position along with his brother, Jake Nynas, and Reed Kornovich. The three of them, along with a host of others, put on what seemed like a scoring clinic as they racked the points up steadily.

During the first half, the whistle blew and the call to clear the field came as Mother Nature would get into the game with a little light show. Lightning began to flash in the distance. If the officials see it, they have no choice but to suspend play until the skies are without flashes for 30 minutes.

The game resumed after what seemed like an eternity, but ended up being just a 45 minute or so delay. When play did finally resume, the Bombers would continue to dominate the field.

Halftime would come, and the Bomber and Eagle fans were entertained during a shortened halftime by the Bomber's fifth and sixth grade football teams taking the field. The fifth grade team was the only one to score, showing some skill with a nice pass play to Warren Halverson over the heads of the sixth grade player, showing that the Bombers have some skills coming up in the future.

After halftime, the Bombers again were on the attack as they steadily moved the ball down the field. Mother Nature however was not out of the picture as she would again show her face. In the fourth quarter, lightning again began to flash and the game would then be suspended. This time, the two coaches met in the center of the field and decided to end the game with the Bombers taking the 47-0 victory over the Eagles.
