The two-day tournament ended with Cherry winning the championship for the 14 and under and the Moose Lake/Willow River girls in second place. The 12 and under champions were the Minnesota Blast, with the MLWR team in third place over all in that division. The Ashley Abrahamson Memorial Softball Tournament began in the summer of 2000. Ashley Abrahamson was tragically killed in a car accident at the age of 13. Ron Tondryk, her former coach, inaugurated the tournament as a way to honor and remember Ashley, who was a dedicated student and athlete. The tournament has grown from eight participating teams to now 25 over the years.
