Twelve students from Barnum participated in the annual Minnesota Business Professionals of America (BPA) State Leadership Conference in Minneapolis, March 8-10. During the school year, approximately 1,800 Minnesota BPA student members take part in the organization's competitive events program, allowing them to compete in nearly 60 events focused in the areas of finance, business administration, management information systems, digital communication and design, and management, marketing and communication. The competitions are designed to prepare students to succeed and assess real-world business skills and problem solving abilities. After qualifying earlier this year, regional winners put their talents to the test during the State Leadership Conference. Students receiving state recognition and advancing to the National Leadership Conference include:

- James Dinger – Intermediate Word Processing

- Jonah Saarela – C++ Programming

- Jacob Hultgren - Fundamental Spreadsheet Application

Also receiving recognition for being finalists in the top ten of their event include Aaron Rimolde and Keith Carlson for Global Marketing Team.

This May, Jonah Saarela, James Dinger and Jacob Hultgren will travel to Dallas, Tex. to compete with 5,500 top students from across the United States at the 52nd Annual National Leadership Conference – the pinnacle of BPA competition.

The students are currently fundraising for the trip to Dallas in May. If you would like to make a donation, feel free to send money to Barnum High School BPA Attn: Kelly Bonitz or visit our GoFundMe page at
