Barnum Bomber Makenzee Schleret drives to the basket to score two of her 30 points for the night.

The Barnum Bombers girls basketball team hit the road February 15 to South Ridge to take on the Panthers.

The Bombers were without two of their starters as Emily Miletich and Kaitlyn Skutevik sat on the bench due to injuries. Jordyn Marine and Alina Skutevik joined Mallory Agurkis, Liz Carlson and Kendal Miletich on the court as starters.

The game started slow, but that soon changed as Agurkis and Makenzee Schleret started dropping the long range shots for three-pointers. The first half saw the Bombers running the score with Schleret putting up 15 points, Agurkis adding 13 points and Marine adding six points from below the basket. Lea Peterson put pressure on the Panthers, resulting in turnovers that she either took to the basket and scored or found herself landing on the free-throw line for four points. Kendal Miletich landed a long range shot for three first half points while Carlson drove the paint for two points. The Bombers took the 43-23 lead into halftime.

The second half saw the Bombers not letting up as they continued to score. Schleret found herself scoring from the paint, the free-throw line and from beyond the arc to add 15 points. Kendal Miletich also found the range as she dropped three long balls while also landing one of two shots from the free-throw line for 10 points. Agurkis continued to drop the long range ball as she hit two shots for six second-half points. Peterson rounded out the scoring for the Bombers as she landed a pair of layups for four second-half points.

The Bombers walked away with a 78-42 victory over the Panthers.
