Sixth-grade Rebels win shoot-out

The sixth-grade Rebels are, front: Brady Robbins, Dawson Mortenson, Cobe Kirk, Eli Youngs and Kaden Robbins. Back: Coach Chad Robbins, Nolan Nelson, Tyler VonRueden, Coach Al VonRueden, Joey Steen, Adam Nuemann, Luke Dewey and Coach Paul Dewey.

The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels sixth-grade boys basketball team participated in the 19th Annual St. Cloud Winter Shootout on Saturday, January 6, in the field house at Hallenbeck Hall at St. Cloud State University. The other teams in their division were Dassel-Cokato, Sartell and Litchfield.

First, they played Dassel-Cokato. At halftime the score was 25-13 and at the end of regulations, the Rebels won 54-24. Next, they played Sartell, winning 31-27. Shortly after, they played Litchfield for the championship. Litchfield was a good team and scrappy. MLWR won the championship trophies 35-25. Litchfield took second, Sartell was third and Dassel-Cokato fourth.

Next Saturday they start off with pool play against Hudson, Wisconsin, at 4 p.m. at St. Anthony High School. At 6 p.m. their opponent is St. Anthony. After pool play, the winners will be determined and the championship played at 8 p.m. Other teams in the tournament are St. Michael–Albertville and the Rangers Gold 6.
