Bombers fly high, win two

Barnum Bomber Tyler Nynas weaves around the Polar Bears defense to score.

The Barnum Bombers boys basketball team started the week hosting the Floodwood Polar Bear December 12.

The Bombers started out slow, but soon found a way to slow down the Polar Bears' lead scorer. Bomber Tyler Nynas took control of his team's offense and put up 17 first-half points. Meanwhile, to total 43 points in the first half, Sam Goodwin added seven points, Drake Weets added six points, Braden Hlavka added four points, Quinn Casey stepped beyond the arc to land the long bomb for three points, Kyle Kielty scored just two points and Alex Wheeler went to the line for two points. The Polar Bears also started out strong, but soon were shut down by the Bombers' defense, only scoring 24 first-half points.

The Bombers onslaught continued in the second half as they scored another 31 points while only giving up 11 points to the Polar Bears. Nynas led the Bombers with 25 points, Goodwin added 15 points, Tony Robinson and Weets added eight points, Kielty had seven points, Hlavka had four points, Quinn Casey added three points, Wheeler and Saul Myhre would both added two points. The Bombers took the 74-35 victory.

The second game of the week found the Bombers hitting the road to Crosby to take on the Rangers of Crosby-Ironton.

The Bombers again started out slow, but soon took control of the game and won 69-53. Nynas again led the Bombers with 19 points.
