Rebels boys fall to Trojans

Avery Kosloski (No. 5) led the Rebels with 13 points, including a trio of three-pointers.

The Moose Lake/Willow River boys basketball team fell hard on the hardwood with a 65-48 loss to the Rushford-Peterson Trojans in the second game of a twin bill in Moose Lake on Saturday, December 2. The Trojans had three in double figures while the Rebels had two in double digits. The win was R-P's first game of the season while MLWR went to 1-1.

Avery Kosloski led the Rebels with 13, including a trio of three-pointers. Brady Watrin came in off the bench for an injured MLWR starter and scored 12 and he also led the Rebels with five rebounds.

Rushford-Peterson went only 3-for-12 (25 percent) from outside the arc, but the Trojans had a strong 19-for-34 (56 percent) on the inside game for an overall field goal rate of 22-for-46 (48 percent). R-P was hot at the stripe as it went 18-for-25 (72 percent).

The Rebels went 6-for-19 (32 percent) on three-pointers and 11-for-26 (42 percent) on the inside game for an overall field goal rate of 17-for-45 (38 percent). MLWR added 8-for-13 (62 percent) on free throws.

The Trojans had only one more rebound at 19 as compared to 18 boards for MLWR. R-P had 20 take-aways as compared to 16 steals for the Rebels. The Trojans had very good passing with 13 assists while the Rebels had nine shares for scores. R-P had 17 turnovers while MLWR had 24 lost possessions.

The Rebels travel to take on the Bombers on Friday, December 8, in Barnum at 7:15 p.m.
