Suicide Awareness Memorial Walk

October 19, 2017

Meghann Levitt

The ninth annual Suicide Awareness Memorial Walk draws 300 people to Carlton Saturday, October 14. Attendees walked a mile and a half loop through Carlton and returned to the high school to listen to speakers and learn about available community resources. The purpose of the walk is to bring awareness to the community about what a pertinent issue suicide is for the area to support efforts toward prevention. It is also a memorial walk to remember those who lost to suicide. Each year the walk is held the second Saturday of October. Next year's walk will be Saturday, October 13, 2018. Anyone interested in joining the Carlton County Suicide Prevention Task Force can contact Meghann Levitt (Carlton County Public Health and Human Services) at (218) 879-4511.
