The Barnum Bombers football team opened their 2017 season hosting the Gobblers of Aitkin on Thursday, August 31. It was a strong ground and air game that allowed the Bombers to take away the win.

Bombers quarterback Tyler Nynas connected with wide receiver Kyle Kielty for a 50-yard touchdown reception, with the field goal kick attempt unsuccessful. The Bombers had a 6-0 lead into halftime.

Coming out of halftime, the Bombers struck again with a 10-yard pass from Nynas to Drake Weets for a 12-0 lead. The Gobblers struck back in the fourth quarter as Gobbler Luke Pelarski ran 25 yards for the touchdown, with the extra point failing.

Time ran out before the Gobblers could close the gap. The Bombers won the first game of the season 12-6.
