Willow River teen injured in crash

At 1:27 p.m. Monday, the Pine County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a car versus motorbike accident near Kandiyohi Lane in Willow River. A Willow River EMT first on the scene reported serious injuries and a helicopter was sent. Responding were Willow River Rescue, Mercy Ambulance, Pine County deputies and a state trooper.

The driver of the motorbike was identified as a 14-year-old male from Willow River. The driver of the car, a 46-year-old female from Texas, was not injured. The boy was airlifted to a hospital in Duluth with serious injuries.

The accident remains under investigation, but initial reports are that the motorbike came out of the woods from a trail and collided with the car. The boy was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
