Scott Lindgren appears in court

Scott Kendrick Lindgren, 21, Wrenshall, was charged with two counts in Sixth District Court, Carlton County, on Wednesday, July 5.

Lindgren was charged with tampering with a witness, aggrevated first degree, a felony; and assault and terroristic threats, a felony. Bail was set at $800,000.

Lindgren was first arrested Monday, May 15, after the Carlton County Sheriff's Office received a call about a juvenile male being held hostage at a residence in Wrenshall.

According to a press release from the Carlton County Sheriff's Office, when the deputies arrived, Lindgren was about to flee the scene. He was arrested and brought to the Carlton County jail. He was charged with kidnapping, first degree assault, second degree assault, third degree assault, threats of violence, intent to terrorize and false imprisonment, all felonies. Bail was set at $250,000.

The victim, a 17-year-old male from Duluth, had been tied to a chair, hit in the head with a .45 caliber pistol and had the word "snitch" carved on his chest with an unknown object, according to the criminal complaint.

The residence where the hostage had been held was burned and declared a total loss the following Monday.

Lindgren posted bond on May 23.

According to the Carlton County Sheriff's Office, an arrest warrant was issued for Lindgren on Friday, May 26, for felony threats of violence and aggravated tampering with a witness in the first degree.

Further reports stated Lindgren was arrested in Vancouver, Washington, on May 31. He was booked into the Carlton County jail on Monday, July 3, at 3:56 a.m.
