Mahtowa Hootenanny set for July 8

Carlton County’s favorite (and only) country gospel sensation, the Holy Hootenanners, will be hosting its free annual music festival, the Mahtowa Hootenanny, on Saturday, July 8, noon-9 p.m., at the Mahtowa Hall.

The festival has drawn an impressively talented and diverse lineup this year, including The Holy Hootenanners, The Roe Family Singers of Minneapolis, Duluth’s Feeding Leroy, Fond du Lac’s Cedar Creek Singers (traditional native music), Mahtowa youth rock band the Langertsons and more.

Additional features this year include a bouncy house and other activities for the kids, a local craft and vendor fair, as well as pig roast and other locally grown foods available for purchase.

To further entice your musical appetite, the Holy Hootenanners will be freshly releasing their third album, The Rumble, at the festival.

The Mahtowa Hall is located at 2702 1st St., Mahtowa. The festival will be held rain or shine. For more information on the festival, including the performance schedule and performer information, visit
