Moose Lake man arrested again

March 23, 2017

A Moose Lake man with four open felony cases against him, and out on bail, has been charged with five new counts.

Nathan Jay Schwarz, 35, was charged in Pine County court last week on five new felony counts for an incident at Grand Casino Hinckley. Schwarz was charged with second degree assault-dangerous weapon, aggravated robbery, motor vehicle theft, threaten violence-intent to terrorize and felony theft.

According to the charging document, authorities were called to the casino on March 14 at 3:49 a.m. on a report of a robbery. A man said he was up in his room when there was a knock on his door, and three males he did not know came into his room. The person said Schwarz took out a knife and told the party to give him all of his valuables or they would assault him. The victim said he gave him cash, car keys, his phone and also a bottle of hydrocodone.

The deputy went out to his squad car and observed the victim’s vehicle with four people in it, Schwarz being the driver. Court records stated that Schwarz said he did not know who the vehicle belonged to, and he got the keys from “a friend of a friend.”

The victim later told authorities he was robbed one month earlier, and the three men who took part in the incident at the casino were the ones who robbed his home.

In February, Schwarz was charged with third degree burglary, felony theft and felony motor vehicle theft. In that case, a 33-foot RV camper was stolen along with a 1935 Ford Coupe.
