Lady Bombers meet Rebels on hardwood

The Barnum Bombers traveled to Willow River to take on the Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels February 9 on Coaches vs. Cancer night.

The Rebels struck first, but Bomber Bailey Wheeler answer ed with a nice outside shot for three points. The stage was set as the teams traded basket for basket for several minutes.

Bombers Wheeler, Kaitlyn Skutevik and Mallory Agurkis dropped in the long bombs for 15 points. Wheeler and Emily Miletich took care of the lane, scoring from the paint. The Bombers took a 29-19 lead going into halftime.

The second half of the game started slow, as neither team was able to score for more than four minutes, then the game soon belonged to the Rebels as they out-scored the Bombers 22-15.

The game came down to free throw shooting as the Rebels went 13-32, while the Bombers went 12-24 from the free throw line.

The Bombers were led by Wheeler with 20 points, followed by Emily Miletich with 10 points. Agurkis added eight points, while Skutevik and Kendal Miletich both had three additional points.

The Rebels were led by seventh-grader Natalie Mikrot with 17 points, followed by senior Ally Bode with 14 points. Laura Walker added five points, while Ellie Schaumburg had four points. Rounding out the scoring for the Rebels was Kennedy Janke with one point from the free-throw line.

The Bombers won 44-41 over the Rebels.
