Rebels race by Wrens

The Rebels had an amazing 16 service aces against only five service errors to help race by the Wrenshall Wrens in an hour in straight sets at Moose Lake on Thursday, October 6. The set scores were 25-12, 25-17, 25-12. The Rebels improved to 11-8 while the Wrens went to 4-8.

Assistant coach Tonya Benzie filled in for head coach Beckie Jackson and did an extremely good job managing a very frequent rotation to get all the non-starters plenty of playing time.

Due in part to the 16 MLWR service aces, the shared playing time and lots of unforced errors by the Wrens the Rebels individual kill counts were not very high. Lauren Pederson had four kills and one dig. Sage Gerard had three kills, 10 digs and four service aces. Skyler Hoffman had 14 set assists, three kills and six digs. DonnaMae Smith had nine set assists and nine digs and she paced the MLWR servers with seven aces. Josie Benzie had 13 digs, three service aces and one kill. Nicole Newham had two kills. Steph Pasek had the final kill to finish the match and she had three digs. Adre Dobosenski had two digs and Suzy Grutkoski had one set assist.

The Rebels have an away match on Thursday, October 13 in Proctor against the Rails who were 5-10 through Wednesday, October 5. MLWR finishes the regular season at home on Tuesday, October 18 against a very good, but recently struggling Cromwell Cardinals team.
