Bombers take third in subsection

The Barnum Lady Bombers softball team ended its regular season on a high note, winning both of their remaining two games, locking themselves into third place for the subsection playoff.

The Bombers first traveled to Ogilvie to take on the Lions. This started as a battle with the Bombers finding themselves trailing 8-0 early in the game.

The Bombers rallied in the fifth inning and scored six runs to bring the score a little closer.

The Bombers then took the lead in the sixth inning, moving ahead 9-8, but the Lions scored one in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game. The top of the seventh inning, the Bombers scored five runs to jump ahead 14-9.

The Bombers defense stood their ground and prevented the Lions from scoring. The Bombers came away with the 14-9 victory.

The Bombers next hosted Hill City.

The Bombers started the game with a back and forth battle with Hill City. The Bombers ultimately came away with the 16-14 victory.

The Bombers started the playoffs Tuesday hosting the Cardinals of Cromwell for the first tournament game.
