Moose Lake/Willow River Rebel Ethan Olson tripled on the day by winning the 1,600-meter run, 800-meter run and anchored the winning 4x400-meter relay.

There were many Rebels who had very good performances at the University of Wisconsin, Superior Indoor Meet held on Saturday, April 2. The meet was much like what could be called a scrimmage as unofficial times and distances were given to the athletes to report to their coaches and there was no team scoring.

Sophomore Ethan Olson had an excellent day as he tripled. Olson far out-distanced the competition as he even lapped some runners to win the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:43.8. Olson ran to an easy win in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.5. Olson anchored the Rebels boys 4x400-meter relay team that ran away with the event at 3:56. The other runners on that team included David Webb, Ryder Anderson and Michael Olson.

Freshman Kennedy Bryant won her heat in the girls 55-meter dash at 7.8. She triple jumped 33-2 and she long jumped 15-6.

Junior newcomer Isaac Riihiluoma tied classmate Breton Butkiewicz in the boys 55-meter dash at 6.9. Thomas Hansen ran 7.0 in that event. Riihiluoma triple jumped 36-6 and long jumped 17-4.

Ryan Wilson long jumped 17-6 and triple jumped 35-4. Junior Sam Coil took the shot put at 49-4 and senior Luke Branson had an effort of 39-7.

Lauren Hartman ran the 55-meter hurdles in 12.9 and she won her heat in the 200-meter dash at 29.9. Kiersten Evenson long jumped 14-8 and she ran the 200-meter dash in 31.5.

The Rebels next meet is Thursday, April 7 in Aitkin at 4:30 p.m. followed by a meet in Esko on Tuesday, April 12 at 4 p.m. and at Crosby-Ironton on Friday, April 15 at 4 p.m.
