Lady Bombers win a pair

The Barnum Lady Bombers hosted a pair of games during the week. The first was February 18 against the Two Harbors Agates.

The Bombers battled back and forth with the Agates, taking a 31-30 lead into halftime.

The second half had the Bombers and Agates battling once again as the score remained close with the Bombers coming out on top, 77-71.

Bomber Bailey Wheeler had a big night as she led her team with 27 points, followed by Emily Miletich with 22 points. Mallory Agurkis came away with 13 points, while Kaitlyn Skutevik and Emma Koski both added six points. Britney Mike added a pair of points, while Alina Skutevik went to the free-throw line for one point. The Bombers had four players landing the long bombs for three points - Agurkis with three, Wheeler with three, Kaitlyn Skutevik with two and Miletich with one.

The second game of the week had the Bombers hosting the East Central Eagles Friday, February 19. This started out with a battle of players as both teams tried to pound the ball inside, but soon the Bombers moved to a long ball game with 15 of the Bombers points coming from beyond the arc. The Eagles tried to match the long ball, landing 12 points from beyond the arc.

The matchup was close but the Bombers' lead came from free-throws as they landed nearly all attempts, while the Eagles struggled to land the free balls.

The Bombers were in the lead heading into halftime 39-27.

The second half had the Bombers starting out with the lead, but the Eagles made a run for the lead, however, the Bombers continued to match point for point.

The game ended in the Bombers' favor 74-64.

The Bombers had five girls with the long bombs from beyond the arc ­- Kaitlyn Skutevik with two, Lexi Fuglestad one, Wheeler one, Miletich one and Agurkis two. Miletich led the Bombers with 23 points, Agurkis with 11 points, Kaitlyn Skutevik with 10 points, Koski and Wheeler with eight points apiece, Fuglestad seven points, Mike with five points and Liz Carlson with two points.
