Bombers boys soar past Mercs

Barnum Bomber Chris Carlson takes flight over the McGregor Mercs defense for an easy layup.

The Barnum Bombers boys basketball team hit the road to McGregor to take on the Mercuries January 15.

Bomber Mason Agurkis took the jump ball and the game began. Bombers senior Hunter Fetters led the Bombers in the first half with eight points, while Chris Carlson followed close behind with seven points. Agurkis and Drake Weets landed long balls for three points apiece, Reese Parks and Daniel Gilchrist both scored a pair of points. The final points of the first half came from Kyle Kielty with a pair of free-throws.

The Bombers took a 27-19 lead into halftime.

The second half belonged to the Bombers. Carlson was on a mission, landing both the long balls and taking the steal in for the easy layup for 14 points. Fetters would stand his ground beneath the basket and became a scoring machine with 13 points. Parks scored four points, two of which came from the free-throw line. Agurkis rounded out the second half scoring with two points.

The Bombers ended the night taking the 60-38 victory.
