Moose Lake Area Rebel Maddy Gamst makes one of her many saves for the night.

The Moose Lake Area Rebels girls hockey team fell 3-1 to the Duluth Northern Stars at Riverside Arena in Moose Lake on Tuesday, November 17. Moose Lake Area was out-shot 25-18 by Duluth with Maddy Gamst taking the loss with 22 saves. The Rebels had six penalties and Duluth had four penalties, but neither team had any power play goals.

The Northern Stars got the first two goals on an even strength assisted goal and an unassisted short-handed goal.

Jessica Bird, a junior forward, who coincidentally was the Northland leader in assists with 44 and in points with 79 as a sophomore, got the Rebels' lone goal at 13:54 of the first period. Bird's even strength goal was assisted by sophomore forward Asia Gobel and junior forward Sage Gerard.

The Northern Stars added an even strength assisted goal in the second period for the 3-1 final tally as neither team scored in the third period.

The Rebels are not at home again until Friday, December 4 when they host Henry Sibley at 7:30 p.m.
