School to launch investigation

Willow River Superintendent Scott Anderson is the subject of an investigation authorized by the Willow River school board last Tuesday. Anderson was put on administrative leave with pay until further notice, confirmed school board member Dave Prachar Thursday in a phone interview.

The October 13 regular meeting closed for about one and one-half hours so the board could discuss allegations and also conduct the superintendent’s evaluation.

When Chairman Greg Bennett reopened the meeting, Prachar read from a paper, asking to table the superintendent’s evaluation until a later date. Prachar continued by requesting to put an unnamed individual on administrative leave with pay until further notice.

Prachar then requested the board “authorize legal counsel to initiate an investigation of allegations on a district employee subject to board authority.”

School staff members were notified last Wednesday.

The kind of allegations is not available to the public, and attempts to contact Anderson have been unsuccessful.

In other business, the board approved the purchases of directional signs, T-shirts to be purchased by the Willow River Commercial Club and a custom made feeder water tank for the boiler.
