Bombers fight but fall

The Barnum Bombers were swept by the Wrenshall Wrens in the 2015 volleyball season opener in Barnum on Tuesday, September 1. The game scores were 25-22, 25-16 and 25-19.

The Wrens were led by Tatum Swanson with nine kills and three blocks. Shana Laveau had seven kills. KeeleyShae Dianoski had 23 digs and four assists. Laveau added four assists. Delaney Kittel had four ace serves. Wrenshall racked up 15 ace serves with eight service errors.

Barnum was led by Hannah Tate with five kills and three blocks. Megan Laine had five kills and four ace serves. Emma Koski had nine set assists. The Bombers had eight aces and nine service errors with Katelyn Schatz, Laine and Koski with a pair of aces each.

In the first game, it was Koski with three set assists. Tate had three kills, and Aleah Orlowski, Laine and Alyssa Hunter each had one kill. Schatz had three digs. Tate had two blocks. Laine had two aces.

Koski had four set assists in the second game. Tate had two kills. Hunter, Lyric Lekander Emily Miletich, Orlowski, Jessica Bird and Laine each had one kill. Schatz had four digs. Leah Peterson and Koski each had one dig. Hunter had one block. Koski had two ace serves and Lekander had one ace.

In the final game, it was Koski with two set assists. Laine had three kills. Hunter, Tate and Koski each had a kill. Lekander and Hunter each had a dig. Laine had one block. Schatz had two aces serves and Miletich had one ace.

The Bombers have an away game at Esko on Thursday, September 3 at 7 p.m. Barnum hosts Onamia on Tuesday, September 8 with an early start time of 5:45 p.m. according to the Minnesota State High School League website. The Bombers host the Cook County Vikings on Thursday, September 10 at 6:30 p.m.

The Barnum Bombers volleyball team traveled to Esko to take on the Eskomos September 3. Though the Bombers played well as a team, they fell to the Eskomos.

They stayed with the Eskomos for a short time, but soon the Eskomos took command and ran with the victory.

Bombers Alyssa Hunter and Megan Laine came away from the game with three kills each, while Emma Koski had seven set assists and Emily Miletich added a single set assist.

The Eskomos C.J. Stoyanoff put up three ace serves while teammates Hannah Stark had three blocks, Taylor Robinson put up seven set assists and Suntina Spehar rounded out the game with four kills.

The Bombers next host the Panthers of Onamia on September 8 and the Cook County Vikings September 10.
