Barnum softball has a blast

Dan Lingle

Liz Carlson snatches victory away from the Blast in a U16 softball game played July 1 at Wade Stadium in Duluth.

The Barnum U16 softball played very good Blast teams at Wade Stadium in Duluth July 1. Barnum first took on the Minnesota Blast 14's and played very well against them.

Barnum found ways to score against them but soon found themselves falling behind. Jaden Lind did a wonderful job of pitching against the Blast, and catcher Liz Carlson had some great plays at home plate, including catching a very strong and accurate throw from center fielder Lea Peterson to get a runner out at home plate.

In the end, the Blast 14's proved to be too much for the Barnum ladies to take down.

The second game of the night had the ladies from Barnum taking on the Minnesota Blasts 16's. This was the opportunity Barnum was looking for as they jumped to the early lead and played strong.

This was one of the best games Barnum has had, playing with much determination and heart. There were a few mistakes but the ladies did not let them slow them down. T

he Blast began to rally late in the game but the ladies from Barnum held them off and came away with the victory.
